LA River Day Cleanup
Posted by: | CommentsTwo weeks ago, I had the opportunity to participate with other Latina Bloggers/Bloggeras and Pine-Sol to help clean up the LA River.
The LA River Day in its 22nd year, gathers together members from the community to help clean and revitalize the Los Angeles River. Thousands of community volunteers came together and helped clean up trash from the actual river and the surroundings walkways. Mayor Villaraigosa was also there to lend a hand.
I had the opportunity to pick up trash with my blogging buddy Ericka. We had a great time chatting and being able to help in the clean up. There were various booths along the way with information on how to get involved and there were also activities for the kiddos. It was a great way to help the entire family involved in volunteering. Next year, I want to make sure we can participate and bring along the entire family.
Pine-Sol helped sponsor the event and donated to the Girls Today Women Tomorrow mentoring program, which also volunteered at the event. The day finished with live entertainment by Ozomatli. I made a little video that captured some of the day below.
It was a great event and I was thrilled that Pine-Sol invited me to this amazing day.

Fun Friday Eats – Hugo’s
Posted by: | CommentsA few weeks ago I had the opportunity to have lunch at Hugo’s in Studio City. I’m always on the lookout for a great family friendly restaurant and Hugo’s certainly fits the bill.
Hugo’s first opened it’s door in West Hollywood over 3o years ago and has become a Los Angeles institution. Hugo’s opened it’s doors in Studio City in 2000 and has been by CitySearch as the best place ” to eat breakfast” in 2006. Hugo’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Hugo’s has a fantastic Kids menu and everything on it is not only healthy but it tastes great! It is the perfect fusion of healthy and delicious. You will find that even the pickiest of eaters can find something they like on the menu, and you will be happy that they are eating something that is good for them!
I had the opportunity to visit on a Saturday afternoon and there were families all around me. I tried the broccoli lemonade(pictured above) and it was delish! You couldn’t really tell it was made from broccoli. I also tried their pozole and cuban sandwich. The food was absolutely scrumptious and I ate without feeling any guilt.
To learn more about Hugo’s and to take a look at their menu head here. FYI to our valley friends, Hugo’s will be opening another location in Agoura Hills this summer.
Disclosure- I did not receive any compensation for this post. I was invited to lunch by Hugo’s. However, all opinions are my own.
