Ford Motor Company’s Green Driving Trends
ByA few weeks ago I was invited to a luncheon by Ford Motor Company on behalf of DayTrippingMom.com. As I have mentioned before-I am pregnant and the mention of free food will get me to drive just about anywhere. As it did on this gorgeous and sunny So Cal day for Ford; the lunch was held at the San Diego Automotive Museum and quickly followed by a lecture showcasing green driving trends and the latest vehicle technologies that was presented by Dan Kapp, Director, Powertrain Research and Advanced Engineering at Ford Motor Company. To say the lecture was over my head is an understatement. Maybe because I have a pregnant brain or maybe because the smell of the delicious cookies nearby kept me distracted-who knows. However, here is what I did get out of the presentation: Ford Motor Company is dedicated in moving forward to a more sustainable future. In 2012, nearly one-third of Ford’s vehicle lines will feature a model with 40 mpg or more, building on the company’s commitment to give fuel-efficiency minded customers the Power of Choice.
Eco-Boost Vehicles: will feature up to a 20% fuel economy and up to a 15% reduction in CO2 emissions without sacrificing the power that drivers want. Ford is also dedicated to promoting driving “green” by improving fuel economy. Such as weight reduction, electric power-assisted steering, mechanical improvement, aerodynamic refinement and system optimization.
Electric Vehicles: Ford’s electrification strategy builds on the company’s vision for bringing affordable fuel-efficient technology to millions. From the Full Hybrid, Plug in Hybrid and Full Battery electric vehicles available, Ford is working hard at finding new technologies for faster battery charging times.
