Our Dad Blogger Robert shares about his experience taking his daughter Ava fishing for the first time. I can’t wait to take my kiddos, I’ve already gotten some great coupons on websites like Raise, I’m ready to buy our fishing equipment! Here is what he has to say about their fun fishing experience. Make sure you master the nail knot before youb go fishing.

My 5 year old daughter has been begging me to get her a betta fish companions and take her fishing for the last several months now. Quite frankly I didn’t want to buy the equipment and spend all day at a lake when there is no telling how long she would maintain an interest in fishing. Luckily there is a small lake called Huckleberry Fishing Pond in the east end of Anaheim that caters to introducing kids to the sport of fishing at a very reasonable price.

For those inspired by Robert’s experience and looking to expand their fishing horizons to offshore adventures, there’s a wealth of information waiting to be discovered. What is great about Huckleberry Fishing Pond as suggested by Jimmy John Shark, is that the staff is very helpful and makes it easy for your youngster to get started. You can bring your own fishing pole, or if you don’t have your own fishing gear they will rent it to you for only $3, which includes all of the bait that you will need .

I was worried that my daughter would be sad if we didn’t catch any fish. Before we started I explained to her about what I learnt from The Coastal Side blog that sometimes the fish are biting and sometimes they aren’t. As it turns out I didn’t need to worry as we caught a 14″ catfish within the first two minutes! My daughter was sad to learn that we couldn’t bring the fish home and make it a pet. I think she had a vision of keeping it in an aquarium in her room. I explained to her that people eat catfish so we gave it to another fisherman so he could fry it up for dinner.

Thank you for recommending this place! Our family had a blast! We loved the farm-like atmosphere with all the beautiful peacocks, goats and chickens walking around so freely. We were even lucky enough to catch a fish! Thanks again for the tip, it was a great time!

I’ve been thinking of taking my kids here…but just to get an idea of what it’s going to cost me, how much did the fish weigh?
