Last month we packed a weekend bag, some snacks and headed down to Carlsbad, for a weekend of fun at the Carlsbad Seapointe Resort. The Resort is part of the Grand Pacific Resort group and are vacation condos that sit directly across a spectacular stretch of sand and with incredibly views of the Pacific Ocean and some pretty spectacular sunsets.
From the moment we stepped on the grounds, I knew that we had a fantastic weekend in store for our family. First off let me tell you about our room. We stayed in a two bedroom condo, that had everything a family could ask for. The room was equipped with a full size kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area, dining area and a balcony with views that seemed to stretch for miles.
It was so nice to have room to stretch and be able to set up the kiddos in one room. My husband couldn’t make it and my two sisters, niece and mom came down with us and it was so nice to have so much space! The rooms are equipped with three flat screen TV’s, DVD players, iPod/iPhone docking stations and did I mention the comfiest beds and pillows I’ve ever experienced? The condos are very comfortable, spacious and well appointed.
Honest to goodness, I think the biggest mistake I made on our little getaway was leaving the resort. Saturday morning we decided to check out the Carlsbad Outlets and I wish we had not left the resort. It’s just too fun to leave. The hotel has a children’s play area, a family pool, an adult only pool, a family spa and an adult only spa. You can enjoy some family swim time during the day and then head in the evening for some quiet time at the adult only spa.
The resort also is home to a children’s playground, spray area, BBQ/Picnic areas, BBQ grills, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts. Honestly, I hope we can spend an entire week there because one weekend is not enough!
If you do want to leave the grounds, the resort is centrally located with easy access to Legoland, Carlsbad Village, The San Diego Zoo, The San Diego Zoofari Park, Sea World, incredible beaches, shopping, restaurants and all that San Diego has to offer.
If you are looking for a great vacation at the beach with the family, you definitely have to check out the Carlsbad Seapointe Resort. I promise you won’t be disappointed and will have the best time with your family! For additional info head here.

One of the things I most look forward to during the summer, is the art festivals in Laguna Beach. They are fun for the entire family, inexpensive and a great way to spend a beautiful day in paradise. My favorite of the festivals is the Sawdust Art & Craft Festival. The festival has great demonstrations, live entertainment, music and free art classes.
If you have kiddos at home that are bored this summer, make sure to buy a summer pass to the festival. Kids 5 and under are always free and a season pass for an adult or older child is only $15. Also if you are a resident of Orange County you can get in for free on select evenings after 5pm. You can check here to see what day of the week, you can get in for free.
Most of the art classes are geared for children older than 4 and almost all are free of charge. Some of the classes offered are rock painting, Hawaiian Paper Flowers, Nature Mosaics and much much more! You can check out the calendar of classes and events by heading here.
The Sawdust Festival will run through September 2nd of this year. If you find yourself with bored kiddos this summer, pack them in the car and head over a fun afternoon of art!
Parenting is tough work! I think I can safely say that most of us are exhausted at the end of the day. Parenting alone is extremely hard work, add to that extra curricular activities, running a home and work can make our days filled to the brim and without a moment to ourselves. I feel like there are not enough hours in the day to catch up on the blog, laundry or even my favorite show.
One thing that makes life manageable for me is to make sure I always carve out some time for a little pampering. It’s not usually expensive and sometimes I don’t even have to leave home to experience it. During the week, I usually try to carve out a few minutes to read a book, catch up on my latest grown up show(usually something horribly trashy on Bravo) and maybe spend some good quality time with my computer checking out pinterest. I love that site and get so many ideas for home, kids, outing ideas, etc.. If you aren’t on it, you are missing out friends! It is so fun!
I also make sure to make time at least once a month to either get a mani/pedi or a reflexology massage. Lately, I’ve skipped out on my mani/pedi time because I’ve become addicted to my reflexology massages for many reasons. One is that they are usually cheaper than a mani/pedi. They are only $15 to $20 for a good one hour massage, they are more relaxing and for an hour, I can be guaranteed peace and quiet. I usually leave the massage place as a ball of mush. The massages are worth every penny!
I guess what I’m trying to say is that no matter what, we have to make sure to carve out some time for ourselves. Whether it’s a few minutes watching your favorite show, taking a bubble bath, a long shower or just browsing the aisles at Target by yourself, make sure to take some time to pamper yourself! You deserve it!
I shared last week how excited my kiddos are about the upcoming release of Ice Age: Continental Drift. I’m not kidding when I say that they have asked at least a few times in the past few days, if Friday, July 13th is finally here. They can’t wait to watch the movie and neither can I! We’ve loved the Ice Age series and this looks to be just as good, if not better, than the other films in the series.
To celebrate the release of the movie, I have a small prize pack to giveaway to one lucky winner.
· Ice Age Activity Book with crayons
· Limited Edition Ice Age Candies from Topps including “Brrry” Ring Pop & Push Pop
· 4 NEW Ice Age: Continental Drift books from Harper Collins
All you have to do to enter is let me know your favorite character from the movie. That’s it! Giveaway ends on Wednesday, July 11th at 11:59pm. Winner will be chosen at random. Good luck!
