This upcoming Sunday is Mother’s Day and my sisters and I, have been thinking about what we will be doing on this special day. My sisters, mother and I have a great little tradition. We pack up the kids and head somewhere to celebrate the special day. Last year we made a trek out to Monterey, and this year we plan to stay local.

We definitely plan on taking advantage of National Public Gardens Day. It’s the perfect way to kick off Mother’s Day weekend. National Public Gardens Day, takes place the Friday before Mother’s Day, which happens to be Mexican mothers day.

The Participating local gardens in the area are below:

  • The San Diego Botanic Gardens in Encinitas
  • The Living Desert and Zoo in Palm Desert
  • The Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens
  • The Alta Vista Gardens

We have been wanting to visit the Living Desert and Zoo in Palm Desert, and I can’t wait to take the kiddos to visit! Admission is almost $20 per person, and this will be a fun way to have fun with the family for free.
