Halloween Roundup : Brick-or-Treat at LEGOLAND

brickortreat

Can you believe we are more than halfway through September? Eeek!!!!  I can’t stop smiling because I absolutely LOVE the fall and Halloween. It is such a fun time of the year! We have developed some traditions as a family, and attending Brick-or-Treat at the LEGOLAND resort, has become a Halloween tradition.  It’s a wonderful time of the year to visit the park, and the kiddos have a blast trick or treating at candy/treat stations.

There is a trick-or-treat trail with 10 stations. There is also  live entertainment, dancing, a costume contest, and fireworks. We honestly have had such a blast every single time we’ve attended. The kids dance their hearts out. It’s so much fun to watch little kids dance the night away. Brick-or-Treat will take place every Friday and Saturday night in October.

Admission to Brick-or-Treat is included in the price of admission, or you can purchase an evening pass for $30. It is honestly a great time to visit. The weather is perfect(almost chilly!) and the crowds are long gone!! To learn more about LEGOLAND’s Brick-or-Treat head here.

Minnie Walk – CHOC Walk in the Park at Disneyland

Anyone from Southern California, especially Orange County is aware of the priceless gem known as the Children’s Hospital of Orange County or CHOC for short. It’s recently been expanded and remodeled and is now a state-of-the-art care facility for children.   You probably also know about the annual CHOC Walk in the Park Presented by Disneyland  which is the hospital’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

Held each year in October, patients along with their families and supporters participate in this amazing walking event that takes you on a stroll through Disneyland and California Adventure. In addition to the CHOC Walk in the Park, there is the Minnie Walk.  With many of the patients at CHOC being too sick to attend the walk at the CHOC Walk in the Park, a special walk is held several weeks prior at the hospital, known as the Minnie Walk. Daytripping Dad, Mike was fortunate enough to attend the Minnie Walk last week, which was held on the second floor of the hospital’s new tower.

Children and their families had lit-up faces during the Minnie Walk.

Local business sponsors were also in attendance giving out treats to participants.

We have participated in the CHOC Walk in the Park several times in the past and look forward to being a part of it this year.  It’s a great experience and a lot of fun to walk around some of the back areas at Disneyland and be inside before it opens for the day.  The 23rd Annual CHOC Walk in the Park will be held on October 13th and there is still time to sign up to participate in the walk.  To register for the CHOC Walk, please visit www.chocwalk.org and receive up to-date event information at CHOC Foundation on Facebook and Twitter.

Smithsonian Magazine presents Museum Day Live-Free Admission to some amazing places

smithsonian

I love sharing about fun and free events or promos. It makes me happy that families can enjoy time together without spending much money. I feel some of the best memories are made on occasions like this. I shared yesterday about kids being free in October at dozens of museums in San Diego. Now I want to share about Free Admission for your entire family to dozens of museums/gardens throughout the country, and of course Southern California.

The Smithsonian Magazine’s annual museum day live! is taking place on September 28th. The Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day will offer free admission for one person and a guest to select museums across the country. Some of the participating museums/zoos include The Autry, San Diego Air and Space, Fleet Science Center and dozens of other local museums. We had the opportunity to visit Penny Pickles Museum in Temecula and had an absolute blast with the family. We were there late in the afternoon and were able to get in and enjoy the museum without a crowd. It was so much fun!!

You will need a ticket to gain admission to the museums. Each ticket is valid for two museum passes. For additional information and to print your tickets head here.
