Latino-Americans

This is a compensated campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Ford. However, all opinions are my very own!

Last week I shared about the fantastic series Latino Americans on PBS. It showcases the struggles, and contributions of Latinos to our country. I watched along with my kiddos, sisters, and mom. We loved every minute of the series, and we were literally glued to our seats. I actually let the kiddies stay a little past their bedtime, because I thought it was very important to watch. I want them to be proud of their heritage, and know where they come from. My kiddos are bicultural, and I want them to understand their rich heritage, and what it means to be Latino.

Last week’s episodes of Latino Americans focused on the contributions of Latinos in World War II, and during the civil rights era. We watched as Latinos helped President Kennedy win the election, and much more. This week episodes 5 and 6 will focus on the “Chicano” movement. As a Chicana, I can’t wait to watch! I will be live tweeting this evening, so make sure to follow along. You can follow the conversation with the hashtags #LatinosPBS #LatinosFord

The series will air tonight, October 1st from 8pm to 10pm. If you can’t watch the episodes tonight, you can catch them on Vme TV on Friday night at 10pm. I’m again thankful for the Ford Motor company that has generously sponsored Latino Americans. I’ve had many wonderful professional experiences with Ford, and I love that they value the Latino community.

I have the opportunity to possibly teach in a predominantly Latino community. I hope I can soon have a class of my very own, and be able to share some of what I have learned from the Latino Americans series. It will be definitely added to my curriculum.
