Enjoying the Del Mar Farmers Market

Disclosure: This is not a compensated post. A complimentary stay was provided by the Clarion Del Mar Inn for review purposes. However, all opinions are my own.

Do you ever feel like you really need a vacation from it all? We were feeling just like that a few weeks ago and really needed to take a breather from our very busy lives. I know most of you can relate. We go and go and go, without taking a break. Our family really was in need a break. We packed our bags and drove south to Del Mar for one very relaxing weekend.

A little slice of heaven

A little slice of heaven at the Clarion Del Mar Inn

Del Mar is a beautiful seaside community, located north of San Diego and just south of Encinitas. It is a beautiful beach town and it offered just what our family needed. We relaxed, enjoyed all that the city had to offer, and made some great memories as a family.

We stayed at the beautiful and #1 rated hotel in Del Mar, The Clarion Del Mar Inn.  It is a beautiful property that is very family friendly and it is hands down home to the most amazing staff. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. I will be posting in a second post all about this great little hotel. Trust me, you will love it! The hotel is offering a discount to Daytrippingmom readers. You can  call the hotel  directly at 1-800-451-4515 and mention the promo code DREAMDELMAR  to receive 25% off your stay through May 31st, 2014.

Del Mar is located an hour or two away from the OC/LA/IE area. We checked in and went on a family walk to explore the area. We discovered quite a few little shops along the way, as well as the local Farmers Market. The Del Mar Farmers Market takes place every Saturday afternoon, year round, from 1pm-4pm. We had a great time talking to the local vendors, trying out some tasty treats, and enjoying the atmosphere. The Market offers organic and pesticide-free fruits and vegetables, flowers, and other local goodies. This is the place from where I usually by my flowers for Valentine’s day. It was my kids first trip to the Farmers Market that they can remember and they loved every minute of our little trip.

We then headed for a walk on the beach and exploring the different shops, restaurants, and beaches that Del Mar has to offer. We were excited that the Clarion Del Mar Inn is in centrally located in Del Mar Village. We did not have to use our car once during our visit. We walked everywhere and it was such nice break from our normal routine.

Exploring Seagrove Park

Exploring Seagrove Park

We spent the rest of the evening at our hotel enjoying the swimming pool, the hotel, and enjoying relaxing in our room. The next day we set out to enjoy the beach. We made our way to Seaside Park. I can honestly say that it has become one of our favorite parks in Southern California, if not THE favorite. The playground is fantastic for the kids and the views are out of this world. The kids could have played all day if we would have let them. It’s also a great place for train lovers. The kids loved watching the trains go by from the grassy area.

We had a great time in Del Mar and I can’t wait to head back there again. We had the opportunity to really unwind, relax, and reconnect as a family. Del Mar is a great place to recharge those batteries!
