Hispanic Heritage Month with Coca-Cola #OrgullosaDeSer

This is part of a sponsored campaign with DiMe Media and Coca-Cola. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

What’s in a family name? Our family is Worley but my last name by birth is Vega. My kids are quite aware of their Hispanic heritage, as they spend lots of time around my side of the family. During Hispanic Heritage Month Coca-Cola is making Latinos feel prouder than ever about their heritage by celebrating one of their biggest sources of pride and evidence of heritage—their last name.

Coca-Cola has been a part of so many of the important moments in Hispanic families’ lives and it wants to continue making new memories with us. It was the only drink other than water we ever drank growing up in East L.A.  This is why Coca-Cola is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, to unite families through their last name and empower them to share the story of why their family name makes them unique and #OrgullosoDeSer #[InsertYourLastName]. We discussed what it means being Latino and my son decided to make the video below.

Coca-Cola created a unique film that embraces and touches upon feelings of unity and pride that come from our last names. Coca-Cola’s Heritage Tattoo Cans inspired moments of surprise and delight and celebrated the depth, variety and passion of Latino culture. The film also reflects the power of family, culture, community and history, by bringing people together in celebration of their heritage and unique family stories.

You and your family can visit coke.com/OrgullosoDeSer and purchase a Share a Coke contour bottle personalized with your last names to share that pride with the world. These would make great birthday or Christmas presents.

5 Family Friendly Remakes Currently Streaming on Netflix #StreamTeam

Netflix-logo

Our family came up with a list of our five favorite film remakes currently streaming on Netflix that we think you will enjoy as well.  We had several other movies we came up with that hopefully will be streaming on Netflix soon. We will post another list when those ones are available.  We encourage you to take some time with the family this weekend or maybe even Monday night, to sit down and spend time together.  Make it a family movie night!

Freaky Friday – A rare example of a remake better than the original.  Jamie Lee Curtis is best when doing her comedic roles.

Parent Trap – Try not to compare it to the original and you will find that this is a fun movie.

Robin Hood – Disney’s 1973 animated version is our family’s favorite Robin Hood movie. It’s a quick watch with catchy tunes to sing-along.

Tarzan – While we are at it, Disney’s version of Tarzan is also the most fun of any Tarzan film we’ve seen.  Phil Collin’s soundtrack is timeless.

Flubber – This remake of The Absent Minded Professor is preferred by my kiddos over the original for several reasons: it’s in color, it stars Robin Williams and the Flubber itself is a true character in the movie.

Walking With Dinosaurs Steps Into Southern California

This is the closest thing to experiencing real live dinosaurs as you can get! It’s WALKING WITH DINOSAURS THE ARENA SPECTACULAR. We got up close and personal with some of the most amazing man-made terrible lizards that have ever been seen.  This show has traveled the world over and is back again in Southern California. We caught the show four years ago during it’s last visit and were beyond excited to experience it again.

The show is safe for kids of all ages. It is separated into 2 acts with each act being about 45 minutes long. This is perfect for young attention spans. It’s educational as well as entertaining, as our paleontologist guide helps us travel over millions of years to see dinosaurs in-person.  The special effects are wonderful and the creative use of the arena was amazing.

WALKING WITH DINOSAURS THE ARENA SPECTACULAR is currently at the Honda Center through September 7th and will be performed at STAPLES Center for a limited seven-performance engagement from Thursday, September 11 to Sunday, September 14.  There are still great seats available to most performances.  More info on the show can be found here.

Walking With Dinosaurs is one amazing show!

Walking With Dinosaurs is one amazing show!

As I mentioned the show is quite educational. Here is a link to an activity guide to further engage your children with learning and understanding about dinosaurs.  I’m sure you’ll enjoy this show as much as we did.
Disclosure: We were provided complimentary seats for purposes of the review. All opinions are my own.
