Minnie Walk – CHOC Walk in the Park at Disneyland

Anyone from Southern California, especially Orange County is aware of the priceless gem known as the Children’s Hospital of Orange County or CHOC for short. It’s recently been expanded and remodeled and is now a state-of-the-art care facility for children.   You probably also know about the annual CHOC Walk in the Park Presented by Disneyland  which is the hospital’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

Held each year in October, patients along with their families and supporters participate in this amazing walking event that takes you on a stroll through Disneyland and California Adventure. In addition to the CHOC Walk in the Park, there is the Minnie Walk.  With many of the patients at CHOC being too sick to attend the walk at the CHOC Walk in the Park, a special walk is held several weeks prior at the hospital, known as the Minnie Walk. Daytripping Dad, Mike was fortunate enough to attend the Minnie Walk last week, which was held on the second floor of the hospital’s new tower.

Children and their families had lit-up faces during the Minnie Walk.

Local business sponsors were also in attendance giving out treats to participants.

We have participated in the CHOC Walk in the Park several times in the past and look forward to being a part of it this year.  It’s a great experience and a lot of fun to walk around some of the back areas at Disneyland and be inside before it opens for the day.  The 23rd Annual CHOC Walk in the Park will be held on October 13th and there is still time to sign up to participate in the walk.  To register for the CHOC Walk, please visit www.chocwalk.org and receive up to-date event information at CHOC Foundation on Facebook and Twitter.
