One of my favorite Southern California events is back and I can’t wait to make it out to one of the weekends of the Dana Point Festival of Whales. The festival is celebrating it’s 43rd  anniversary and features two weekends of family fun. The festival will feature  whale watching, kids free fishing clinic, free fishing trips, art lessons, a mobile Marine Mammal Museum, a rubber ducky race, a festival of whale parade, live entertainment, food and much much more (like I could go on and on!).

The festival will take place over the course of two weekends. The first weekend of the festival will be March 1st and 2nd. The second weekend of celebrations will take place the weekend after, on March 8th and 9th.

There will be free shuttle service available on both weekends. You can park and ride free on both weekends all day long. Most of the events and activities are either free or very low cost. It’s an educational experience and just plain fun.

Mark your calendar’s because one of Southern California’s best festivals is taking place on March 3 & 4 and March 10& 11. The majestic, California Gray Whale will begin their migration in late November, but from March 3 – 4 and 10 – 11 hundreds of these 35-ton leviathans will splash through Dana Point during the 41st annual Dana Point Festival of Whales.

Festival highlights include an opening day parade, Whale of a Block Party, art exhibits, classic car exhibits, paddling events, sand sculpting, concerts on land and water, environmental activities, educational opportunities, interpretive crafts, kids activities, and of course, whale watching!

The festival is free and super fun for the entire family.

FREE Shuttle Service is available every day of the Festival from 10 am to 4:30 pm (extended service hours on the first Saturday to accommodate the parade and the last Sunday to accommodate the Grunion Run and Concert on the Water only).  Park and ride free all day long and migrate with the whales!
