If it were up to me, we would be going on outings every single weekend as a family. Unfortunately a day out for a family of four can be quite expensive. It’s one of the reasons why I created this website and why I love sharing about free admissions to amazing places. Here’s one of the deals you don’t want to miss!

On Saturday, September 26th, hundreds of museums across the nation will be offering free admission to participating venues with a ticket. In the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket for free. Each ticket provides free admission for two people.

There are 40 participating museums in Southern California. Here’s a short list of some of the local venues participating.

  • Zimmer’s Childrens Museum
  • Orange Empire Railway Museum
  • Autry National Center
  • Museum of Making Music – Carlsbad
  • Pennypickle’s Workshop/Children’s Museum
  • San Diego Air and Space Museum
  • San Diego Automotive Museum

All you have to do is head here to register and get your ticket. If you’ve wanted to hit either the Zimmer’s Children Museum or Pennypickle’s Workshop, this would be a great time!

Museums Free-For-All

Happy Thursday everyone! We are one day closer to the weekend and to some free time. Since it looks like a rainy weekend is probably in store for us, you will want to be spending some time indoors. If you are looking for something to do that will take place indoors, you have to check out Museums Free-For-All.  In a joint effort to present the arts and culture to the diverse and myriad communities in Southern California, the Museum Marketing Roundtable will present  ‘Museums Free-For-All’ Saturday January 26th and Sunday January 27th. The museums—presenting art, cultural heritage, natural history, and science—will open their doors and invite visitors free of charge.

Here is a list of Participating Museums:
