Last weekend I had the opportunity to spend a few hours at The Newport Beach Mariott’s Pure Blu Spa. It was absolutely heavenly!!! It’s so hard to get away and take a break as a busy parent and being able to just relax and enjoy myself was such a treat. I loved every single minute of it!

I was able to sample some amazing treatments that included a facial, a bamboo massage, paraffin treatment and a poolside cabana hand treatment. You start off by entering a zen like dressing area and changing into the plushiest and most comfortable robe I have ever changed to. I then headed to the relaxation room to wait for my treatments.

I started with a bamboo facial which left my skin feeling so smooth and looking refreshed. I then indulged in a bamboo massage. This ultra relaxing masssage technique utilizes bamboo sticks as an extension of the therapist’s fingertips.  The heated bamboo sticks will knead, roll and tap along your body creating a greater increase in circulation.  This heat therapy is a mixture of smooth light pressure to consistent firm pressure to really release any kinks your body may have.

I then headed to a cabana and had a hand  massage/treatment  poolside. I love that the spa has a separate pool exclusively for spa patrons. It was nice because I  pretty much had the pool to myself. It was lovely to just lay inside one of the cabanas and relax.

After the treatments I used the women’s facilities including the eucalyptus steam room. I then headed back to the pool and slept a little. It was divine!  After a few hours it was time to head back home to my family. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and I’m already looking forward to heading back to Pure Blu Spa.

I was checking out their prices and think I’m going to try to head there next time when to get a pedicure(it’s only a few dollars more than the spa pedicure at my local salon) and stay to enjoy the facilities the rest of the day.
