Netflix Makes Birthdays A Piece of Cake

In the age of social media, parents are under the constant barrage of making events like birthdays extra special and memorable. We seen on all the various platforms, people outdoing each other. Pinterest has made many of us parents feel inferior that we couldn’t create something a fancy such as the clever cookie monster cupcake or Barbie dreamhouse made from twix and redvines. Did you know in Brazil, parents spend over $600 on their kid’s birthdays? That’s 3x the global average!  Never fear, Netflix has your back with their new set of unique birthday greetings. Direct from some of our kids favorite Netflix characters including Barbie and Ninjago. They are clever and fun – check them out at

My hubby and I are also currently hooked on Atypical, the Netflix exclusive series about the life a of teenage boy with Autism. I have students and family members on the spectrum, so we find so much in this series that we can relate to. It was just renewed for another season. We recommend you check it out too (although its not really appropriate for younger children. Think PG-13.)

Binge The Summer Away with Netflix

Growing it up we depended on the TV guide to find when our favorite shows would be airing. I recall waking up at 5:30 AM weekdays to catch Scooby Doo and then Inspector Gadget. Then we were blessed of the amazing era of the VCR and then DVR, where you could program the machine to record a show so that you could view it later. Now, we have amazing services like Netflix, where we can watch whatever we want to watch whenever we want to watch it.

Now that’s its summertime, our kids have a lot of freedom to binge watch their favorite shows, but I am honestly doing my best to balance their time. When I need mommy time, is when Netflix comes in very handy in our house. Is binging series programs a thing in your home?

Speaking of Inspector Gadget and binge watching, did you know that season 3 of the Netflix exclusive Inspector Gadget series just premiered?

Go Go Gadget Fun!

Anne with an E – New to Netflix

This Mother’s Day weekend, at a bookstore near you, Netflix is bringing Anne of Green Gables to life with the special launch of Anne with an E. This reimagined classic is sure to inspire children everywhere.

Saturday, May 13, from 2 to 5 p.m. Fans can get an Anne with an “E” gift bag, filled with Anne-inspired gifts and a 3-month complimentary subscription to Netflix (one per customer, while supplies last). There will also be fresh flowers and photo ops, perfect for the day before Mother’s Day at  participating bookstores. SoCal bookstores participating are: Chevalier’s Books, Los Angeles and Deseret Books, San Diego, California.

Anne of Green Gables by Canadian author L. M. Montgomery was first published in 1908. In the book, Anne Shirley—a red-headed, mischievous orphan—is accidentally adopted by the siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. To date, the book has sold more than 50 million copies and has been translated into at least 36 languages.  In fact, Mark Twain once described Anne Shirley as “the dearest and most lovable child in fiction since the immortal Alice.”

Netflix’s new incarnation of the spirited Anne Shirley will actually be older than her book counterpart when she comes to live with Marilla and Matthew, but not less spunky on the small screen than she was in the novel. Check out the preview below:
