Meet the Cubs – Disneynature’s Bears

April 17, 2014 in Disney Sundays, movies

Tomorrow, Disneynature’s newest film, Bears opens everywhere. This was the first Disneynature film shot in America, as they filmed it entirely in Alaska.  It follows the story of a year as a mother and her cubs get through life and prepare for next winter’s hibernation.  The film is rated G and has some moments of drama and some bear fights, but it is generally safe for all ages.

Here are some fun bear facts:

  • Katmai National Park and Preserve, where the movie was filmed,  is home to an estimated 2,000 brown bears who are attracted to the abundance of salmon — there are five species of Pacific salmon in Katmai, including sockeye, or red salmon.
  • The brown bears that live in Katmai eat a variety of food (while waiting for the coveted salmon run). Bears snack on sedge grass, use their claws to pry open clams and other shellfish, munch on mussels and in late summer, will dine on ripe berries.
  • A brown bear’s home range can span 100 square miles.

In collaboration with Disneynature’s work for worldwide conservationism, the program SEE “BEARS,” PROTECT OUR NATIONAL PARKS invites moviegoers to see the film during opening week (April 18-24, 2014) and Disneynature, via the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, will make a contribution to the National Park Foundation , the official charity of America’s national parks, to protect wildlife and wild places across America’s national park system.  So go this weekend and see this wonderful film.

Disney’s #MagicAtPlay Kohl’s Collection + Giveaway!

The new #MagicAtPlay collection at Kohl’s

Disclosure: This is not a compensated post. A GC was provided to
facilitate review of the new collection. However, all opinions are my own.

Our home is brimming with excitement, as we pack our bags and head to Disneyland for a weekend filled with Disney Magic. I’m headed along with my family to the Social Media Moms conference. We’re excited to stay at the Disneyland Hotel and exploring the park. It’s been some time since we’ve all been there as a family because of our busy schedule.

We’re picking up some gear and were thrilled when we found out that Disney has partnered with Kohl’s to introduce the #MagicAtPlay collection. It is an absolutely adorable collection, and we picked up an outfit for each of the kids for our special Disneyland visit.

The collection made its debut earlier on April 3rd, and is now available at your local Kohl’s . There are infant/toddler sizes and the children’s line runs up to a size 7. Our local Kohl’s had a great selection. Not only is the line super cute, it is very affordable. I was able to buy 2 complete outfits for less than $40 with my coupons. The kids couldn’t wait until Disneyland, and my daughter decided to wear her outfit to school today. To learn more about the collection, head here.

My daughter couldn't resist wearing her new outfit!

It’s giveaway time! We’re giving away a $50 Gift Card to Kohl’s, so that you can check out the collection for yourself. All you have to do is leave a comment letting me know who you would buy an outfit for. That’s it.  Giveaway ends on Sunday, April 13th at 11:59 pm. Winner will be selected at random. Good luck!
