Date Night : An Evening at The Getty

Are you looking for ideas for a fun and different date night? If you want to have a spectacular evening that won’t sent you back even a dollar,  you must go on a date night to The Getty.  There are many reasons why I think The Getty is the perfect date night in Southern California, in fact the best locale in my opinion.

The first has to be the spectacular views and breathtaking beauty of the museum. We were there last week and caught the most amazing sunset. The views are out of this world and on most evenings you can see miles beyond Catalina.

The Getty has an impressive collection of artwork and the buildings and gardens will take your breath away.

A big reason why I absolutely love The Getty is because it offers free admission. Also did you know that after 5pm on Saturday nights they offer free parking? A beautiful evening on a Saturday night won’t cost a cent!

Parking is usually $15. I do have to warn you that you visit be prepared for at least a 15 minute wait to park. There is plenty of parking but only one way getting in and out and it gets congested. Aim to park in level 6 or 7 and you will be fine.

Last but not least is that you can bring your own picnic and enjoy a nice meal with an incredible view. If you don’t care to bring your own meal, you can purchase a meal at the Garden Terrace Cafe(pictured above). We bought our meals at the Cafe, but I was a little jealous of the people next to us, who were on a date and brought Pollo Loco for dinner. You can also bring your own bottle of wine.

I honestly can’t really put into words the beauty of The Getty and how perfect it is as a setting for one of the most romantic dates you will ever have.

The Getty is open on Saturdays from 10:30am to 9pm. Go out and have a great evening!
