Date Night Idea: An evening at the Hollywood Bowl

Date Night in So Cal!

Date Night in So Cal!

* This is not a sponsored post. We did receive complimentary tickets to the Jazz Festival.

Date Night… I know for many this is almost an impossible feat. My husband and I try to find the time, and a babysitter to head out on one, but it’s pretty hard to make it happen. We usually try to head out somewhere once a month. In the summer, we are always looking for fun and different ideas, and when Verizon invited us to be their guest at the Playboy Jazz Festival we jumped at the opportunity. We’ve had the opportunity to attend concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and it’s been quite the experience. If you are willing to brave the crowds, there is nothing like listening to music under the stars. You can bring your own food, drinks, blanket and have a wonderful evening out. The only downside is finding parking. If you’re willing to park and ride, your evening will be much more enjoyable. Tickets usually start at $15 and are pretty darn affordable. They usually  are only a few dollars more than going to the movies, plus you can pack a picnic and enjoy an evening of music under the stars. To check out the upcoming shows head here.

Heading out for a night on the town is kind of a rare treat.  After the kids head to bed, we put on our own music, head outside and enjoy the stars along with take out. We create our own “Hollywood Bowl” experience at home, thanks to FiosSoCal. We listen to their digital music  stations, since it’s a little hard to get a decent radio signal where we live. We listen to everything from the Jazz Station to the 90’s station to the what I like to call the Spa Station(Easy Listening). If you can’t head out on the town, you have to improvise sometime, and we sure do.

If you can make it out on the town, I really recommend checking out the Hollywood Bowl Experience. It is a really affordable date night experience if you plan accordingly. Plus don’t you want to use that picnic basket? We received one as a gift way back when we were fist married, and I love anytime I have the opportunity to use it. Here is your chance! Free Movies on The Lawn Summer Series

Movies on the Lawn

Movies on the Lawn

Our Dad blogger Robert, shares about the super fun movies on the Lawn Summer series at the Orange County Great Park.

The Great Park in Irvine has announced that they have expanded their FREE Movie on the Lawn series for summer 2013.  This year they will be having Classic Fridays, with movies such as Singing in the Rain, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, and Clambake.  On Saturday nights will be Family Blockbuster night with movies such as Madagascar 3 and The Lorax among others.

As families eagerly gather for the highly anticipated Movie on the Lawn series at the Great Park in Irvine, the thought of convenience often crosses their minds. How convenient would it be to have a beautiful and hassle-free lawn? That’s where artificial grass comes in. With its evergreen charm and minimal maintenance requirements, artificial grass offers families a practical solution that enhances their outdoor experience. For those eager to explore the advantages of artificial grass cost and transform their outdoor spaces into havens of beauty and ease, they can find valuable information at FG Lawns. As parents and children settle down, they can fully immerse themselves in the movie magic, without the worries of natural grass costs and upkeep. So, while enjoying the Classic Fridays or the Family Blockbuster nights, many families ponder the convenience of artificial grass and consider the benefits it brings to their outdoor oasis.

Movies on the lawn are somewhat of a tradition in our family. You can get it ready by hiring King Green lawn cleaning services.   It’s a great way to spend quality time together under the stars and watch a movie for free.  By making use of the wildlife plants for sale, I was able to create a fantastic garden which my kids loved a lot. My daughter loves to invite her friends so they can all hang out and enjoy the movie in a laid back outdoor environment.

Be sure to bring blankets and some low back chairs along with plenty of snacks  and drinks and you are set for the evening.  Some times in the past there have been snacks for sale but other times not, so be prepared.  There is plenty of free parking, although there is a bit of a walk to where they set up the outdoor movie screen.
