Daytrippingmom: Founder/Editor Aracely Worley

I’m Aracely, a thirty-something mom of two very cute kiddos that always keep me on my toes. I love the outdoors and discovering beautiful Southern California. I work from home full time and keep pretty busy between my kiddos, husband, day trips, school and my job. I love museums, the beach and living in the OC. I love visiting new places and sharing my knowledge of So Cal with others. I am passionate about my love for Southern California. If I could be anyone for the day- it would for sure be Huell Howser. Did I also mention that I’m a Disney Geek? You will find me and the kiddos on the Disney tram at least once a week. Join me on my journey to discover every square inch of magical Southern California.

Hi ya’ll, my name is Desiree Eaglin and I am a stay at home mother of two. I have a bachelors degree in Psychology from Cal State Fullerton. When people asked me what I was going to do with my degree while I was still in school, my reply was always to be a school psychologist, but honestly I just enjoyed being in school. I was really good at it and I looked forward to getting a PhD. My interest was gender studies on a neurological level. It is my goal to raise my children as gender neutrally as society will accept, but just to be honest, my son’s room is full of cars and trucks and is painted blue. My daughters room? You guessed it, it’s Pink. Life is full of oxymorons right?

I was in my senior year of college, getting ready to apply to Masters programs when I found out I was pregnant with my son. I went back and finished up my bachelors after he was born and I never looked back. To me, being a mother to him (and now my daughter) is so much more important than anything else.

While in school, I was a social worker for an amazing company called IABA (Institute for Applied Behavioral Analysis) as an “employment specialist” for adults with developmental disabilities. I was assigned to my very own client whom I still keep in contact with today. That job taught me tolerance, patience and where all the bathrooms are in Orange County. It was the best “paid” job I’ve ever had.

I organize an amazing, wonderful, supportive playgroup here in South Corona called The South Corona Playgroup. We are a very active group and we are all really good friends that love and support each other. Life would not be the same without my playgroup friends. They fill my days with such joy (that and they let me be my hyper-active, over enthusiastic, over controlling, anal retentive, freakish self).

I’m looking forward to being a contributor here on this blog. I’ll be writing reviews of the places we’ve been with our playgroup and sharing pictures as well. I hope ya’ll don’t mind my lame jokes and whackanoodle personality. :-)
