Summer Indoor Fun: Pizza and a Movie

Pizza and Hansen’s

I love summer. I love being outside and hanging by the beach. It’s a time to be outdoors and enjoy the warm sun. The last two weeks have been anything but warm, they have been sweltering. It has been over 100 degrees almost every day this past week in our neck of the woods and that makes me want to stay indoors and enjoy my air conditioner ( check here for ac installments).

When the weather is a little too toasty for my taste, I like to get some crafts going, skip making dinner, order a pizza, pop in a movie and enjoy an afternoon in with the family. Part of that also means bringing out the fun drinks and for our family that meant getting out some Hansen’s Natural Soda. We are obsessed with the Kiwi Strawberry and Mango Orange flavor. They are so delicious!

Our summer obsession: Kiwi Strawberry Hansen’s Natural Soda

I want to make sure the kiddos don’t go stir crazy on these too hot to head outside days and part of these staying in days means to make sure we can make them as fun as possible. We order in their favorite pizza. I pick a fun flick from netflix or their favorite from my own collection. I also made sure to pick up some fun popcorn containers for the kids that I found in the dollar spot at Target and fill them up with their favorite popcorn. The kids love all the little details and they actually look forward to our “staying in” time.

Disclosure: This is part of Hansen’s Summer Sponsored  Campaign. However, all opinions are my own.

CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles

I still can’t believe that summer is winding down and that Labor Day Weekend is upon us! We have a great 3 day weekend coming up, and if you’re looking for something fun for the entire family, you don’t want to miss out on this fun event.

CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles, is a a large-scale permanent craft marketplace. CRAFTED is located in the port of Los Angeles and hopes to be home to hundreds of individual craft-artists, designers, and artisanal food makers. Each artist presents their unique handcrafted goods in a vibrant patchwork of market stalls. Visitors will be treated to a huge variety of one-of-a kind treasures and have the chance to meet the makers every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The marketplace will also host daily demos, live music, special events, and  food trucks. Crafted is Free to the public. There is a $5 parking charge (or lots of free parking lots in the surrounding area)

This Labor Day weekend they are hosting a special Labor Day party that will feature live music, crafts, demos and of course BBQ! Fox Pizza Bus will be bringing their BBQ menu which includes

Wordless Wednesday: Pretend Play

Always a great time at Pretend City

There is nothing like good old fashioned play. One of our favorite places to visit and play our hearts out, is Pretend City. I love this snap shot of my my son, while he was playing supermarket. If I would let him, he could play his heart out all day long.  He loves pretending and letting his imagination run wild, and isn’t that what childhood is all about?

I would love to feature your photos of your outings on Wordless Wednesday. If you have any that you would like to share, please send them to mom@daytrippingmom.com
