Verizon FiOS Makes Family Entertainment Easy #FIOSFuels

Quantum-TV

We have been enjoying the new Verizon Quantum TV. This month they have also featured a free preview the new Disney On Demand channel.  Quantum TV has simplified a major problem with our modern television viewing. Now each of our three televisions can access the DVR, pause TV and record more than two shows at a time.  My husband can watch his old movies on Turner Classic in our bedroom, the kids can watch their Disney XD programs in the loft and I can watch my Lifetime movies On-Demand in the family room.

The new service also features 200 hours of HD storage. That’s enough to store an entire season of Walking Dead and then some! Verizon reports that currently, more than one-third of all TV viewed is recorded content, and adoption of DVR capabilities has grown roughly 60 percent over the past five years.

One of the main reasons why we love our @verizonca Quantum service #FIOSFuels

According to the latest Verizon FiOS Innovation Index survey, 78 percent of respondents nationwide want more DVR storage capacity to record and save more TV programs and movies. Survey responses also revealed that 63 percent want more tuners so everyone can watch and record live TV when they want; 63 percent want to watch DVR-recorded programs on every TV in the house; and 57 percent want to pause, rewind and fast forward live TV programs on every TV in the house.

I should also state that television viewing is limited in our house to specific times during the day and to specific types of programming. We enjoy access to all the Discovery channels which are mostly educational. We also watch lots of music programming on Palladia and VH1 Classic.  Many of our favorite movies and some fantastic specials have been found on EPIX.

Disclosure: Verizon FiOS provided us with a Quantum TV upgrade for purposes of this review.

South Coast Repertory’s Charlotte’s Web

We love sharing about Children’s’/Youth Theater. My daughter read Charlotte’s Web last year and we’ve wanted to watch a live show. I was looking around and found that The South Coast Repertory is performing Charlotte’s Web, live on stage.

This children’s classic story is brought to life on stage weekends during the month of November. The show will play Friday-Sunday from November 7th to November 23rd. There are shows at 11 am, 2 pm, 4:30 pm, and 7:ooo pm.

I love this show and I can’t wait to take the kiddos. You can purchase tickets online or at the box office. For additional information head here.

Knott’s #MerryFarm – A SoCal Tradition!

Knott's Merry Farm Logo

The weather is cooling down (finally) and the holiday season is again upon us. One of the few places that still feels like the genuine nostalgic Christmas time of year is Knott’s Merry Farm.  What’s your favorite part of Knott’s Merry Farm?  Ours is to check out the live performances of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol or O. Henry’s A Gift of the Magi in an intimate setting of the historic Bird Cage Theatre.  We miss the old melodramas that used to play there and love still being able to catch live theater in Ghost Town.

No visit to Knott’s Merry Farm is complete without catching a performance by the world famous beagle, Snoopy as he performs a brand new ice spectacular, Merry Christmas, Snoopy! inside of the 2,100 Charles M. Schulz Theatre. Snoopy ice shows happen year round, but the Christmas show has always been our favorite and heck, even Santa makes an appearance!

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without visiting Santa Claus. The Wilderness Dance Hall in Ghost Town becomes home to Santa’s Christmas Cabin for the holiday season. Here, the young and the young at heart can share their wish lists with jolly Santa Claus and take home a picture of the occasion.

Here, guests can also indulge in holiday delights such as:
• Santa’s homemade cookies
• Hot fudge sundae bar
• Decadent hot chocolate topped with hand carved chocolate shavings
• Winter wine and craft beer tastings paired with fresh fruit, cheese and more!

One thing Knott’s always does well is food!  Knott’s Berry Farm’s culinary elves have created delicious festive treats including Santa’s homemade cookies, sundae bar, decadent hot chocolate topped with hand carved chocolate shavings, and winter wine and craft beer tastings. Savor the ultimate comfort foods with Knott’s world famous desserts, including fresh made-to-order Maple Lollipops, churros from the Churro Factory, cakes, cookies, muffins and gingerbread men in the Farm Bakery.

Since we’re talking about the holidays, Knott’s Season Passes make the best gifts. This year you could buy a season pass that comes with food included! Yes, you could have lunch and dinner at Knott’s every single day of the season! You can’t beat that! We’re thinking about getting passes for Summer.
