Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival

Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival

It sure is starting to feel like Summer around So Cal. June Gloom is in full effect, the weather is getting warmer, and there are so many fun events taking place all around So Cal. This weekend we had the opportunity to check out one of those events, The Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival. I’ve always wanted to check it out and when Verizon FiOS asked me if I would like to have the opportunity to attend I jumped at the opportunity.

We can't wait to head back next year.

The Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival takes place every year during the last weekend in May. The festival features all of the amazing things the Temecula Valley has to offer. The festival is held at Lake Skinner and features great live entertainment(Daughtry and the Plain White T’s), amazing food, wine and beer paring, a kids fair, and of course beautiful hot air balloons.  We arrived to the festival on Saturday afternoon and were in for quite the treat.

The FiOS So Cal Experience

We also had the opportunity to check out the FiOS SoCal Experience. The Experience launched 2 years ago and in that short amount of time, Verizon FiOS has given 122,500 in grants and Verizon employees have provided more than 1300 volunteer hours to local So Cal charities.

The Fios So Cal Experience Team also lets you discover all that Verizon FiOS has to offer. We’ve become loyal customers and have FiOS Quantum TV at home and absolutely love it. Did you know that you could record 12 shows at one time with FiOS Quantum? You can learn all about what FiOS has to offer when the FiOS So Cal team comes to your neck of the woods.

FiOS SoCal is also currently hosting a Road Trip Pack Sweepstakes. Head over here to enter to win a Samsung Galaxy 4 Tablet, Skull Candy Headphones, and more. You can enter through June 7th.

The Glow

The Glow

After checking out the Experience, we had the opportunity to pretty much eat our way through the festival. We also were able to check out the balloon glow at dusk. About a dozen balloons are lit up and it’s an absolutely beautiful sight to behold. Like I said, I can’t wait to make this a yearly tradition. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to unofficially kick Summer off.

Disclosure: This is part of a sponsored campaign with Verizon FiOS. However, all opinions are my own.

Date Night Idea: An evening at the Hollywood Bowl

Date Night in So Cal!

Date Night in So Cal!

* This is not a sponsored post. We did receive complimentary tickets to the Jazz Festival.

Date Night… I know for many this is almost an impossible feat. My husband and I try to find the time, and a babysitter to head out on one, but it’s pretty hard to make it happen. We usually try to head out somewhere once a month. In the summer, we are always looking for fun and different ideas, and when Verizon invited us to be their guest at the Playboy Jazz Festival we jumped at the opportunity. We’ve had the opportunity to attend concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and it’s been quite the experience. If you are willing to brave the crowds, there is nothing like listening to music under the stars. You can bring your own food, drinks, blanket and have a wonderful evening out. The only downside is finding parking. If you’re willing to park and ride, your evening will be much more enjoyable. Tickets usually start at $15 and are pretty darn affordable. They usually  are only a few dollars more than going to the movies, plus you can pack a picnic and enjoy an evening of music under the stars. To check out the upcoming shows head here.

Heading out for a night on the town is kind of a rare treat.  After the kids head to bed, we put on our own music, head outside and enjoy the stars along with take out. We create our own “Hollywood Bowl” experience at home, thanks to FiosSoCal. We listen to their digital music  stations, since it’s a little hard to get a decent radio signal where we live. We listen to everything from the Jazz Station to the 90’s station to the what I like to call the Spa Station(Easy Listening). If you can’t head out on the town, you have to improvise sometime, and we sure do.

If you can make it out on the town, I really recommend checking out the Hollywood Bowl Experience. It is a really affordable date night experience if you plan accordingly. Plus don’t you want to use that picnic basket? We received one as a gift way back when we were fist married, and I love anytime I have the opportunity to use it. Here is your chance! Volunteer Day and The TCM Movie Festival!

Helping Weed and clean up!

Helping Weed and clean up!

Last Saturday, we had the opportunity to take part in Volunteer Day! It was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a very long time.  We volunteered with the Verizon Fios crew and helped an elderly woman in Sun City, that could not keep up with her backyard. It was a whole heck of a lot of work, but extremely rewarding! I can’t wait to take part of such an amazing community experience. I’m very thankful to Verizon FiOS for allowing me to have access to such a rewarding experience.

My husband and I had quite the weekend. We were also able to attend the Turner Classic Movie Festival, thanks to acesss from FiosSocal. It was so much fun!  My husband and I (my husband was able to partake all 3 days) were able to catch some of the best films that have ever been made, with introductions by people like Cher and Robert Osborn. It was a once in a lifetime experience. We are huge movie lovers and although it’s tough to get to the movies sometimes, because of cost, babysitters and time, we always find the time to catch a flick at home. We’ve made our won kind of movie fests on the weekends, thanks to our own at home movie theater. We subscribe to Verizon Fios, which we LOVE! They make it so easy to watch or purchase a movie. Just the other day my daughter wanted to watch Grease and we discovered that the copy we owned was scratched up. My daughter was very upset that her favorite movie was ruined. Thankfully FiOS came to the rescue! We were able to buy the digital copy of the movie for less than we would have paid at the store. Within minutes the movie was loaded and we were able to save our night!

We had such and incredible time and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the FiOSSoCal team. They are heading to the beach cities the summer, and will be working with a new set of charities and will also be giving away some pretty cool customized Surfboards, Beach Cruisers, and a skateboard. Yay for Summer! To learn more head here.
