AMC’s Sensory Family Friendly Films

My three year old son has been diagnosed in the Autism spectrum. It is not something I talk about often but I am always on the lookout for things to do that will not overwhelm him and that he can enjoy.

If you have a child in the spectrum or know of someone who does, you might want to check out AMC’s Sensory Family Friendly Films. The program provides a special opportunity for families to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment. The auditoriums dedicated to the program have their lights up, the sound turned down and audience members are invited to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing!

April 10 – How to Train Your Dragon
May 22 – Shrek 4
June 26 – Toy Story 3
July 17 – Despicable Me

a special needs son who is 26. Taking him to the movies has always been a huge challenge. He wants to talk very loudly through the entire movie. He also has a tough time controlling the urge to dance once boogie fever sets in! I wish I would have known about these family friendly movie theaters years ago. Thanks for sharing the info with us!
