I have a little boy that is in love with trucks and especially trash trucks and this is something we do not want to miss out on. The Bureau of Sanitation is hosting a series of Open Houses at local district refuse yards on specific Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The kiddos will be able to enjoy truck demonstrations, tours, games, prizes, free food and refreshments. The best part of course is that these events are free!
If you are looking for something to do today, there will be an open house from 9am to 3pm at the North Central Yard which is located at

Have you ever been to the Waste Management facility off of Construction Cr. in Irvine? You can drive by and see all of the trash trucks come and go and dump trash in the collection facility. There are bulldozers there too and a parking lot full of trash trucks on the other side of street from the collection area. I used to take my son there all the time. We'd park on the side of the street and watch the trucks drive in from our car. Here's the location:
