Dinosaur Train and Los Angeles Live Steamers

All Aboard the Dinosaur Train!

Our IE Contributor Desiree, had the opportunity to attend the Dinosaur Train Event at the Los Angeles Live Steamers and is sharing today all about her fun experience.

Who loves the adorable dino-filled cartoon “Dinosaur Train”? I know my kids and I do! “Dinosaur Train  is celebrating America’s love of trains with special programming and activities throughout the month of May. The Jim Henson Company and PBS So Cal hosted a celebration with partners, sponsors, supporters and media friends at the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum. I was lucky enough to attend this event and I am excited to share my experience with you all.

The May 7th “Dinosaur Train” event was held at the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum located in Griffith Park. This historic one-of-a-kind Museum operates 7½” gauge model steam-engine trains on over 2 ½ miles of train tracks. It is a must see-I guarantee you and your children will love it! The museum is open to the general public on Sundays from 11 am – 3 pm and offers free admission.  For more information, visit www.lals.org

We had a full afternoon of fun with the amazing model train rides, pictures with “Buddy” the dinosaur, a MEGABrands play corner with the all-new construction toy sets based on “Dinosaur Train” a Random House published “Dinosaur Train” book reading corner (read by Lisa Henson and Joe Purdy) and a sing-a-long concert with “Dinosaur Train” creator Craig Bartlett. And trust me; it was as amazing as it sounds! Below are a whole bunch of pictures that I took of our day. I hope you enjoy them!!

This is a picture I took of one of the model train volunteer enthusiast working that day. I know he enjoyed the fact that I asked him to wave to the camera for me haha.

Here is a picture of Brady and Danielle riding the model train. Riders must be at least 34” in height and weigh less than 350lbs to ride. No pictures are allowed to be taken during the ride and you must keep your hands and your feet close to your body at all times. Other than the rules, it truly is an amazing experience to ride this train!!

After our train ride, the kids checked out a Model Train. They loved it!

My son’s favorite part of the day was definitely riding the model trains but Danielle’s favorite part of the day was definitely meeting Buddy and taking a picture with him. I’ve never seen her so happy and so excited!

And last, but certainly not least-please be sure to tune in to “Dinosaur Train” weekdays at 9:30am and 5:00pm on PBS SoCal!
