Baked French Toast Casserole: Christmas Morning Recipe #Positivismo

The main ingredients/los ingredientes

Since I just shared with you a post about traditions, I wanted to share with you our Christmas morning breakfast tradition…. Baked French Toast. My husband and kiddos love waking up to Christmas music, presents and the smell of French toast in the oven. The best part is you make it the night before and just pop it in the oven in the morning.

Baked French Toast Casserole

  • 1 loaf of Texas Bread(I call it French Toast Bread) or  Raisin Bread (I sometimes use the Sun-Maid Raisin Bread)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 8 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt

You will need a 9×13 baking dish and a mixing bowl

  1. In a bowl combine sugar and melted butter and then pour at the bottom of the baking dish
  2. Arrange slices of bread on the baking dish
  3. Mix the rest of ingredients of bowl and pour over slices of bread
  4. Cover with plastic wrap, place in refrigerator and let it soak overnight
  5. In the morning take the casserole out, place on counter and let the oven heat to 350
  6. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes, making sure it doesn’t dry out.
  7. Cover with powdered sugar and fresh strawberries or berries
  8. Enjoy!!
