The Avengers

I love summer for many reasons and one of my favorite reasons is the super fun movies that are released during the summer. One that my family is super excited about is The Avengers. Every time my son spots anything that has to do with The Avengers he goes a little nuts. Syreeta had the opportunity to attend The Avengers press conference and shares all about it.

When I was offered the opportunity to attend the very first press conference for Marvel’s The Avengers by Daytrippingmom.com, I was no less than ecstatic.  I have been dreaming of this movie since I first saw The Hulk. The press conference took place in the ballroom at the legendary Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, where seeing Paul McCartney in the elevator may be an everyday occurrence for L.A.’s elite, but left a small city girl like me feeling quite starstruck.

The junket was well organized, with a delicious lunch served to tide over the multitude of reporters and journalists who were anxiously awaiting the arrival of some of Hollywood’s hottest actors.  The press conference began with an exciting introduction of the following cast members:  Kevin Fiege (Producer); Samuel L. Jackson (“Nick Fury”); Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”); Robert Downey, Jr. ( “Iron Man”); Chris Evans (“Captain America”); and Mark Ruffalo (“The Hulk”).

Once everyone was settled in their chair on the panel, the fight to be chosen to ask your question began.  One journalist asked the cast what their most memorable moment was during the filming of the movie.  There was a lot of laughter as they recounted a scene where Mark Ruffalo gets naked in front of another cast member.  Samuel L. Jackson jokes that his most memorable moment was also getting naked in front of the same cast member, but not during the movie.  Another reporter asks Chris Hemsworth if he has any real life sibling rivalry, and if so, did he pull from his own personal experiences to portray his struggle with brother “Loki” in the movie.  Hemsworth laughs as responds that he needs a moment to think back to the last time his brother tried to take over the Universe.

The best part of the press conference was being able to witness firsthand the camaraderie between the actors; the laughs and the jokes showed that they truly enjoyed working with each other to portray these characters and create an amazing movie for all their fans to enjoy.  The second best part of the press conference was the awesome swag bag I received for attending, which contained tons of amazing Avengers gear and goodies!

Producer Kevin Fiege alluded that the most important part of every movie leading up to the Avengers is that each one had to stand on their own, be successful on their own, whether an Avengers movie was made or not.  The awesomeness of each of the previous movies combines to create one fantastic movie in the Avengers!  The story line is that Thor’s evil and powerful brother tries to take over the Universe, and he must unite with the other super heroes to bring him down.  The movie, which releases on Friday, May 4, 2012, promises edge-of-your-seat action scenes and side splitting comedy.  I can’t wait to take my hubby and kids on opening night!
