Batman Live Tour

Do you have a little Batman fan at home? We have two at home and they can’t wait to check out the Batman Live Tour coming to the Staples Center September 27th to the 30th.

You might be asking what is Batman Live? Well it is an all-new, live-action arena spectacular  BATMAN LIVE is a 15 million dollar stage production with an original story featuring a 43 strong cast of actors and circus trained acrobats, a 3D Gotham City landscape, a bespoke symphonic score, custom-built state-of-the-art stage, a 100 foot bat-shaped LED video wall, pyrotechnics and the impressive Batmobile, designed especially for the show by legendary racing car designer Professor Gordon Murray.

Faithfully adapted from the DC Comics characters and stories, BATMAN LIVE focuses on Robins quest for justice, which leads him to follow in the footsteps of his hero the mysterious vigilante known as Batman, much to the dismay of his protective guardian, billionaire Bruce Wayne, whom the audience knows is secretly Batman. This dynamic triangle resolves itself in a non-stop thrill-ride across Gotham City that transforms Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson into the legendary crime-fighters, Batman and Robin. The adventure transports the audience from the Big Top of Haly’s Circus to the depths of Arkham Asylum, and from the glittering peaks of the Penguins Iceberg Lounge to the subterranean wonders that await inside the Batcave.

You can see a clip of what this show is all about here.

You can learn more about the show by checking out Batman Live on Facebook or you can purchase tickets here. You can purchase a family four pack of tickets for $80. That’s a pretty good deal for an arena show. The Staples Center will host 7 shows from September 27th to the 30th. You don’t want to miss it!

Tuesday’s Tip: The best free aquarium around: Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

Did you know that we have an aquarium in San Pedro that is not only a pretty fun and informative place to visit, but also FREE? I’ve written before about our visit to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and how much fun we had as a family. It is such a great place that I really wanted to feature it again today, especially since I think it would be the perfect place to visit for Spring Break.

The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is a smaller aquarium that is adjacent to Cabrillo Beach Coastal Park and the Port of Los Angeles. It is a truly hidden gem. We visited last year on the 4th of July weekend and pretty much had the place to ourselves.

The aquarium is home to three main exhibit area, a nursery (that was a huge hit with the kiddos), a play and craft area for the kiddos and a new animal care center. Some exhibits are interactive and the kiddos(and adults) will learn about our local marine life and what we can do to protect our local sealife.

We had a great time on our last visit and only spent $7 for an afternoon of fun and learning. .Admission to the aquarium is FREE but donations are suggested. The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $1 for children or seniors. We had an incredible couple of hours for only a little more than $5. Parking is a $1 an hour – make sure to take cash with you.

Fun Adventure – Metrolink Friends and Family 4 pack

My almost 4 year old son has been obsessed with trains ever since I can remember. He loves every kind of train, from miniatures to the commuter trains he sees everyday.

He will be taking a field trip with school to Union Station soon and he is so excited he can’t stand it. He talks about it every single day! I think he forgot that just a few months ago, we took this same trip ourselves. We parked our car at the Fullerton Station and took off on our adventure to Union Station. We had a great time touring the beautiful station and actually wound up riding the subway from Union Station to Hollywood and Highland. It was an inexpensive but very fun trip that my daughter still talks about. My son actually only remembers the subway segment and nothing else.

Needless to day when I read about this great deal from the folks at Metrolink, I had to pass it on.  You can purchase a family four pack of round trip tickets on Metrolink for $29 to use on the weekends. I would highly recommend taking the train to Union Station, touring the station, riding the subway to Hollywood and Highland and having a fun lunch at Hollywood and Highland. I can’t rave enough about what a great time we had as a family when we did it.
