I love the holidays and sadly today marks the end of the holidays for our family. El Seis de Enero or Sixth of January is El Dia De Los Reyes or Three Kings Day. We celebrate with little presents, a yummie rosca and of course a special hot drink. My grandmother used to make us the yummiest hot chocolate and I love to make the same for my family.

It’s so easy! All you need is milk, cocoa or abuelita’s chocolate, and a dash of cinnamon.

Mexican Hot Chocolate

  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 table of abuelita chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan, bring milk to a boil. Add the tablet of abuelita chocolate. I usually break it off, instead of using the full tablet. Stir until chocolate is well blended. Add the cinnamon and vanilla. Stir some more. Let it cool down a bit and enjoy!
