Discovery Science Center’s Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl: Home Sweet Home exhibit and GIVEAWAY!!

I had the opportunity yesterday to take a sneak peek at the Discovery Science Center’s new exhibit Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl: Home Sweet Home which opens on June 20th. Your kiddos are absolutely going to love it!! My kids had such a fantastic time – I’m probably going to sound supremely cheesy -but we literally had to peel them away from the exhibit.
The Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl: Home Sweet Home exhibit teaches your children all about the earth and its many ecosystems. The exhibit is geared for younger children and when I mean they will enjoy spending time there – I truly mean it. I loved that it features not only the Great Forest or what we may think of as a traditional forest but also the Urban Forest which we are very much a part of.
The exhibit features Smokey’s Campsite with visual guides that teach the basics of building a campfire and fire safety. With the push of a button, a sing-along begins around a realistic campfire. This was hands down my son’s favorite area. He loved to be able to start and stop a campfire. He was actually squealing in delight every time he turned his “fire” off.
Another favorite of my kiddos was the forest ranger station. The station features costumes and two-way radios that report the weather and fire safety updates from other ranger stations. An interactive map allows children to move miniature versions of Smokey, Woodsy, and their friends through a maze of trails that lead past wildfires, severe weather and other obstacles, as well as to special places in the forest. There is also a first aid kit that the kids loved playing with. They loved trying on the ranger and firefighting uniforms.
Your kids will also learn about making eco frienly choices in a home. The home featured in the exhibit teaches children about recycling and water conversation. My kiddos loved being able to learn about recycling by sorting through the paper and plastic products.
There is also a lookout station where the kids can observe . There is also a horizontal small climbing wall that your children will absolutely love. It’s designed specifically for the little ones. My 4 year old has always wanted to try climbing one and she was excited that she was finally able to give it a try with one that was her size.
Trust me on this- DSC’s new exhibit is sure to be a hit with your kiddos. To learn more about it click here. Now on to the good stuff- The Cube has a great coupon for buy one admission get one half off. You can get yours by clicking here . You can also pay $40 down and make 4 monthly payments of $14.25 and buy a family membership, which is good for admission throughout the year and special member only events. The family membership is good for two adults and up to 4 children or grandchildren.
Now onto the absolute best part- I have a family 4 pack of admissions to give away. Leave any comment below this post and you are automatically entered to win. You have until Tuesday evening to enter. Winner will be chosen at random. Good luck!!
