NAIC Wreck Check App and Giveaway

I am always out on the road. We constantly are out exploring places and to be honest, I love jumping in my car and going for a drive. You would think that being out on the road so often, I would be prepared if I ever was in an accident right? Well that would be a big no. Last month, a woman on her cell phone blew through a stop sign and almost T-boned right into me. I was able to swerve right before she ran into my passenger side and she wound up hitting and denting the rear of my car. I didn’t know what to do really, other than taking down her info and exchanging phone numbers.

When I read about this tool, I just had to share, because I bet there are many of you just like me, that aren’t prepared for an accident. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has created an app that takes the guesswork and emotion out of the situation in addition to getting in touch with the truck accident attorneys in the Costa Mesa area

NAIC’s free WreckCheck app is designed to help you calmly walk through the steps to take following an auto accident, and it helps you determine what information and details are important when filing an insurance claim, all from your cell phone. The app even allows you to collect the necessary information on the spot and immediately email it directly to yourself and your insurance agent.

The app can be found online at iTunes® and Google Play® or by searching “NAIC” at the iTunes store or Android market and it is absolutely FREE! I downloaded it to my iPhone in about a minute and I honestly wish I had the app last month. The woman gave me the wrong information, I was too shaken up and now I wouldn’t have to face hundreds of dollars for a paint job. Take it from me and get that app!

Win it! It’s giveaway time.

In most cases, you only need to share your name and your insurance info. In most states, there is no need to share your address or phone number.

Glad to know you were ok! How scary! Definitely downloading this app. Very disheartening when people give false information or get defensive even when they were at fault :(. Thanks for the opportunity to win some Gas…I shudder everytime I fill my tank!

Always get their insurance information. That way if you are ever hit and they won’t answer their phone, you can call their insurance. Also, be sure to get a police report. That way if the insurance (either yours or theirs) don’t believe you’ve had an accident, a police report is proof. Plus it might help if they ever take you to court.

I think the most important tip is to stay calm and get all information from the other person no matter what type of damage you have on your car. Sometimes it looks like there is no damage and then the next day your bumper falls off.

If you’re out-of-state make sure to find out if it’s a fault or no-fault state. that could make a huge difference

i was hit in the parking lot and found out that my daughter’s car seat was no longer “good”. so the insurance company cut me a check to replace my daughter’s car seat right away.

so, if you are hit, all car seats have to be replaced, asap.

I think an important tip is to call your insurance company as soon as possible while the details are still fresh in your mind!

It is important to get insurance and personal information, license plate, and also take pictures of the scene and damage to both vehicles.

  9. Patricia says:

First things first don’t panic, Get all the accident detail and don’t give out personal information that is not needed.

I think it’s always best to have the police come out. They can decide who is at fault and deal with getting all the info to the parties involved. Thank you!

I think the most important tip on the app is to find out, in the case of no injuries, whether you live in a fault or no-fault state, since the coverage and declarations are quite different.

  12. Lisa Garner says:

I think an important tip is that you are in control of the situation and don’t let other’s try to force you into anything.

  13. Aaron Bretveld says:

I think the most important thing is to make sure to stay calm. Yelling at the other driver won’t do any good, and at worst it might just make things worse by escalating the situation.

  14. Jaque R. says:

It depends on the severity of the accident. For a minor one all information should be exchanged, in a severe accident it is important to not move victims, to keep them warm and to stay with them until help arrives. 🙂 Thank you.
