The Endeavor made it’s way through the streets of So Cal this past weekend and finally arrived at its new home at the California Science Center. I did not have the opportunity to watch it tour the streets or in the air and I can’t wait until it is open for public viewing on October 30th.
The Science Center’s temporary addition, while construction on a permanent exhibit, is called the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center. The Endeavour will be on display in the Samuel Oschin Space Shuttle Endeavour Display Pavilion. Along with the orbiter, the pavilion will feature video experiences and significant artifacts such as the Spacehab flown in Endeavour’s payload bay on shuttle mission STS-118.
Guests will begin their experience by visiting Endeavour: The California Story, a companion exhibit featuring images and artifacts that relate the shuttle program to California, where the orbiters were built. The California Story gallery will also feature components that flew into space with Endeavour, such as Endeavour’s potty, galley and the tires from STS-134, Endeavour’s final mission, for guests to see up close.
Entry to the exhibit requires a timed ticket. You can purchase tickets here. Tickets are free but there is a $2 processing fee per ticket. You can also purchase tickets for the Imax Exhibit and also a combo to the Cleopatra Exhibit. Admission to the rest of the museum is absolutely free. All you have to do is pay for parking.
The California Science Center is an incredible place that offers FREE admission to everyone. I can’t wait to check out the Endeavor and share all about it. For additional info head here.
thank you for the great idea…will definitely visit!
Thanks – I’ll definitely have to consider this activity. Too many of my friends are space junkies and I don’t want to lose face.
I have been wanting to see the Cleopatra exhibit- glad I waited! That would be amazing to see.
My boys will love it!
so cool. I’ve been hearing how they suggest that you buy tickets ahead of time. thanks for the tip.
Definitely want to stop by to see it! Thank you for the details.
Can you believe I offered to drive on a field trip there on the 29th? I can’t believe we’re missing it by one day. The ignominies!
