Safe Haven hits theaters Feb 14th!

Well, I promised you that follow up post about my husband Mike’s interview with Julianne Hough, so here it goes. Julianne was the first interview of the day and she was very excited to speak to a room full of moms, plus one dad: Mike.  Mike got the interview off to a start with his questions. This is her fourth Hollywood film as a lead, but first non-musical. Afterall, she’s been in the new Footloose, Rock of Ages and Burlesque. She also had a cameo in a Harry Potter film about 12 years ago.

Julianne was asked how different her experience was on Safe Haven by having to rely only on her acting talent and not her singing and dancing.  Julianne responded by saying, “I thought this was, for so many different reasons, the greatest film that I could have done after those movies because Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors.  I’ve read all of his books, I’ve seen all the movies that have been adapted. So, to be a part of a film like this was huge.  One of the main reasons why I took the film was because of [Director] Lasse [Hallstrom].  I knew that he is the most prestigious director I’ve worked with thus far, and I knew that he was going to push me and help me grow. It was a struggle to get this part because nobody had really seen me do this before.  But, it was well worth the struggle, so I’m happy.”

As I said before, my husband promises that the men out there will enjoy this film too. So ladies, tell your significant other to include this movie on your Valentine’s Day date this weekend.

Stopping and Smelling the Fire Trucks

I admit it, I’m a busy mom and sometimes get tend to get caught up in the ins and outs of being a mom and running a home. I find myself rushing from one doctor appointment to another, and from the grocery store to the gas station. It’s a never ending cycle.

I also tend to be the mom that gets caught up in the stress of it all and making sure we are making our appointments on time, and most often, forgetting to take in the little things that make up life. Last Monday on the way home, I was rushing and stressed out of my mind. My son saw a fire truck in a parking lot on our way home and let out a “I wish I could sit in it”.  I don’t know what triggered it, but I stopped the car, put the errands and appointments on hold , and let my son get up close and personal with the fire truck. We stopped and smelled the fire trucks and it was wonderful. I hope we do it more often.
