Halloween Roundup: Irvine Park Railroad

I think if you read this site on a regular basis, you know that I’m a fan of Irvine Park Railroad. One of my favorite times of the year is Halloween and heading to Irvine Park Railroad to pick a pumpkin and participate in the fun activities has now become a tradition for our family. There are plenty of places for photo opportunities and the pumpkin patch has great size pumpkins at a pretty reasonable price. We usually head there twice during the season.

This year’s Pumpkin Patch activities include:  Train rides, hay rides, a haunted house, a hay maze, pony rides, a moon bounce, carnival games, John Deere tractor racers, face painting (weekends only), picture stands, great food and The Orange County Zoo. A new activity for this year is panning for gold. We haven’t had an opportunity to head out yet, but hope to do so sometime this month. Yay for Halloween!

I love this time of year. I love spending time outdoors and enjoying the warm sun. It’s no secret that we love Irvine Park and the Irvine Park Railroad and love to head there on a late afternoon and enjoy an early dinner or late lunch under the shade.

On one of our last visits earlier this year, we rented one of the surrey bikes from Wheel Fun Rentals and had a blast enjoying the grounds and watching all of the peacocks roam the grounds. Wheel Fun Rentals have different style of bikes available to rent including the double surrey we rented, single surreys, deuce coops, tandem bikes, beach cruisers, and more. addle boats are also available for rent.  Wheel Fun Rentals at Irvine Park is adjacent to the historic old boathouse next to the lake. Last Saturday we headed to Irvine Park for some fun with the kiddos. I managed to snap this shot as my son was trying to eat some cotton candy, manage his bucket full of eggs and try his luck at the carnival games. It’s funny how much kids will try to do when candy is involved!
